Topic: global warming news - Freeman Dyson, Global Warming Heretic - Washington Post Blogs

This comes in the wake of a fascinating story yesterday in the Times on the physicist and futurist Freeman Dyson, who, at the age of 85, has added his voice to those who think that the dangers of global warming have been overstated. Note that in the Times article, Dyson makes a passing reference to the notion, briefly in play in the media in the mid-70s, that an Ice Age might be nigh, and compares this to the current belief in global warming. Until the development of complexity as its own field, the general form of presentation to us baby-physicists was that there were so many variables that you couldn't know the initial conditions well enough — but in principle, it might be possible. One of the beautiful and frustrating things about the human condition is for two people to Observe the same events or to share an experience, and for each of them to draw two completely different conclusions.
