(global warming news) Steger to present his eyewitness to global warming - Lake County News Chronicle

Polar explorer and Ely native Will Steger will be in Two Harbors Sunday to talk about his eye-witness experience of the effects of global warming. Steger, who is a National Geographic Adventure Lifetime Achievement Award winner, has spent four decades exploring the polar regions, and has seen firsthand the changes caused by global warming pollutants. Included in the presentation will be images of Steger's trip that can never be repeated, because a Minnesota-sized section of ice shelf they crossed has recently broken off and drifted into the ocean. All proceeds from Steger's presentation, which is also sponsored by the Will Steger Foundation and the Two Harbors High School Enviro Club, will be used for the work of the foundation, which is dedicated to creating programs that foster international leadership and cooperation through environmental education and policy.
