For the 2007 report, Trenberth and two other NCAR scientists served as coordinating lead authors for the section of the assessment that details the science of climate change. Trenberth has been prominent in the IPCC scientific assessment activities, was a convening lead author for the 1995 Scientific Assessment and lead author for the 2001 assessment (including for the Technical Summary and Summary for Policy Makers) and is a coordinating lead author of the 2007 assessment. He has recently served as a member of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Climate Working Group (from 1987 to 2006), and is a member of NOAA
