Climate change researcher to speak on campus, answer student questions - The Daily Toreador (subscription)- About: global warming facts
Texas Tech students interested in discussing global warming with Tech's global climate-change researcher will have that opportunity at 7 p. Katharine Hayhoe, an associate professor of geosciences at Tech, will lecture and answer questions as part of a meeting for the Tech Renewable Energy Society, an organization she and Lindsay Reed, unit manager for computing services in the College of Human Sciences, are members of. Reed said Hayhoe will discuss research she has done with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, along with former Vice President Al Gore, for their efforts in researching and raising global awareness of climate change. Because the Tech Renewable Energy Society is an organization of faculty members, staff and students from different departments and disciplines at the university who focused on discussing renewable energy, Hayhoe said she believes the group's focus can be directly related to the issue of climate change. read more
